The Economy Burrow is a favorite of both hammock and ground campers around the world. Made with 20 denier nylon taffeta fabric that features a Nikwax DWR® (durable water resistant) coating to help shed moisture, and an internal calendared finish for down proof construction. Each quilt is generously filled with RDS Certified, 800 fill power, Nikwax® DWR treated duck down to provide insulation on the top and sides of your body, while eliminating flattened and otherwise ineffective insulation underneath. By forgoing the least insulating elements found in most sleeping bags such as a full length zipper, hood, and backside materials our top quilt design will keep you warm and save precious weight and space. Whether accompanied by a ground pad or underquilt, The Economy Burrow will keep you comfortably warm down to its temperature rating with any sleep system. When using The Economy Burrow in conjunction with any ground sleep system, upgrading to a wide width is highly recommended for adequate coverage along the sides of your body.  Proudly made in the USA.

No reason not to try a quilt!

Posted by Albert on 15th Jul 2019

This is my first quilt and it is under $200! I got the 30F, standard length, wide, zippered footbox, in orange color. I have not used it in temperature approaching the rating but hope to do so in the fall. Right now its a cool summer in the Pacific Northwest. The quilt worked great (although the attachment system did not) in 50F nighttime temperatures. I was plenty warm, so much so that I did not need to cinch up the collar. At this price, it will allow me to try out a quilt and see what I like and dislike about quilts. Its a deal you should not pass up if you are thinking of switching to a quilt from a traditional sleeping bag.

    Great quilt, minimal problems

Posted by Brandon on 10th Jul 2019

I recently purchased two of these quilts (20* rating) for my wife and I. I am not a super experienced backpacker, and have only taken them on one two-night trip so far. Weather was windy and dropped to around 40* at night and the bags did well in combination with our insulated pads (Big Agnes Insulated Air Core ultra and Q-Core SLX). We wore base layers and socks, and did not attach the quilts to the pads.
The only issues I have had thus far are in the stitching. There was a broken thread in my wifes bag at the top seam - made about a 1.5 cm hole. I plan to stitch this up. There are also some loops at the bottom of the stuff sacks, one of which ripped off when pulled. That was a quick easy fix.
I would recommend these quilts if you are on a budget and do not mind inspecting things to make sure you do not have to stitch anything up.

    40F Economy Burrow

Posted by Frank on 8th Jul 2019

I bought this quilt in anticipation of mild temperatures on the PCT starting at Donner Summit in early July 2019. Overall the temperatures were lower than average and there was still quite a bit of snow on the ground. Our first night was in the low 30s but I slept in light thermals and my insulated jacket and was never cold. The next few nights were in the low 40s, and wearing just the thermals the quilt kept me nice and warm. I was able to use my jacket as a pillow. The pad strap mitten hooks unhooked from the loops on the quilt a few times -- not sure if I was doing something wrong. It was a non-factor nevertheless. Overall very pleased with my purchase, and especially happy to shave about 7 oz. off my base weight by leaving my 20F quilt at home. I am 6 ft. 2 in. and glad I bought the long/wide.

Economy Burrow overquilt w/zipper and cinched foot closure.

Quality workmanship. Kept me warm and comfortable on my recent BWCA trip in late June. (temps: upper 50s) and would trust performance into the 40s easily.

Highly recommended! Really great top quilts!

Posted by Andrzej on 3rd Jul 2019

HG top quilts are warm and comfortable. For now I got 40F version only . I tested it together with 40 under quilt. Never slept better. Warm down, soft and nice to touch fabric. I had to pay +25% because of import VAT and custom duties (I am in Europe) but it was a great choice compare to local overpriced brands of doubtful quality.

And I am very happy with HG service. I had a small technical problem with my order and also I asked them to change my order after the payment and the response was fast and very helpful.

    Great Customer Service

Posted by David King on 1st Jul 2019

I had a trip coming up in 2 weeks. Internet said allow 3 weeks for delivery. I called and spoke to someone and they said order it, call them with the order number and they would make sure it got to me on time. They followed up and I got it in time. Very pleased with the personal touch. On my trip, it worked great. I am claustrophobic so a mummy bag wont work. This gave me the freedom I needed to feel great.

    Awesome quilt

Posted by Ryan on 1st Jul 2019

I got to try my 30 degree long economy burrow this past weekend and I could not be happier. I saved a respectable amount of money by sacrificing a little weight (totally worth it) and I stayed nice and toasty in just my base layer, socks and a beanie, my Econ Burrow and a 20 degree UQ with temps in the low 30s, wind and thunderstorms in the high country. I am confident I could take this set up even colder if needed.

    10 F Burrow

Posted by Ken on 28th Jun 2019

Love this quilt. I got it with 2 oz. of overfill and it puffs up nicely. I had an older 20 F quilt that the snaps were worn on. I sent it back to HammockGear and they replaced the snaps perfectly. Great customer service.

So light, so warm, so adaptable

Posted by Stephen on 25th Jun 2019

I purchased the 30F Burrow and 10F Incubator for shoulder season hammock camping (and where I live, I only have winter and shoulder season, summer never comes). I love how adaptable they are. Even when using the Burrow indoors it is easy to configure so that it does not overheat. I have been plenty warm into the 30s and cannot wait to try this setup into the teens (supplementing the Burrow with a puffy jacket and tightening up everything on the Incubator).

    Worked like a charm!

Posted by Michael McBride on 24th Jun 2019

Switched from a mummy bag to this top quilt as camping with a dog that wants to be kept warm was getting to be a pain. This top quilt kept both myself and my companion warm without sacrifice!

Economy Burrow 40 Degree Top Quilt

Posted by David on 19th Jun 2019

I have used the quilt a total of 4 nights and am extremely happy with its performance and the workmanship in its construction. If I knew then what I know now, though, I would have gone for the zippered foot box.

    Econ burrow A+

Posted by Unknown on 16th Jun 2019

Just got back from a week at Philmont with my son and these performed flawlessly. I purchased 2 - 20 degree with 1oz overstuff. Lows got to about 30 at night and I was sweating. Had to sleep without a shirt and was still super toasty.
