About the Premium Burrow

The Premium Burrow works for both hammockers and ground-dwellers alike. It is a lightweight sleeping quilt that takes the insulation of a traditional sleeping bag and puts it all on the top and sides, leaving the back (which insulation is compressed and unusable anyway) open. Many hammockers use top quilts in lieu of a traditional sleeping bag because they are easier to slide into when it's time to sleep. The Premium Burrow is designed with a half taper, vertical torso baffles, foot box and a cinched top. Comes complete with a stuff sack and storage bag.

Filled with the finest water resistant, 850 fill power or 950 fill power goose down on the market, the Premium Burrow is the finest top quilt we offer.  Our Premium Burrow is 15-20% overfilled to help minimize down migration and prolong the loft of the down over time and use.

Goose Down

Hammock Gear is committed to providing down products that meet RDS (Responsible Down Standard).  RDS certifies that geese and ducks are treated ethically (no live plucking or force feeding) and the down is traceable back to the source.  Both our Premium and Economy quilts use down that meets the Responsible Down Standard. Excellent Quilt

Posted by Tim C on 16th Nov 2019

This quilt has become one of my favorite pieces of gear. I have the 40 degree quilt with 1 ounce over overfill. It kept me nice and warm in temps to the 40's in the columbia river gorge in May despite a massive therma-rest failure. The quality is excellent and the quilt is extremely versatile. Have used it both with a hammock and on the ground.

It was hard to believe! But to my amazement

Posted by Tim on 13th Nov 2019

Me a a group decided that November couldn’t be much colder than October in Illinois and we planned one more camping trip. At the last minute I noticed temps would be in the 20’s or possible teens. I ordered a 20 degree premium burrow and called to ask if it would possible be done in a week. I received a shipping notice 3 days later and had it in time for my trip. To my amazement once I crawled in with all my clothes on (I know not smart) I had to get back out and strip all my layers. I got back in and was toasty warm all night. I did also have a zero degree under quit but I was shocked at how warm I was. Thanks for everything Hammockgear!

    Premium Burrow Quilt

Posted by Jimi on 1st Nov 2019

This is the third Premium Burrow quilt that I have purchased. The first was back in 2016 the old style with horizontal baffles it has been a good friend for many a mile. this year I bought my wife a P.B.quilt and I really liked the new design and I realized how tired my old quilt was, so I purchased a third for my self. I am quite happy with the product and the service has been exceptional which keeps me coming back. Thank you for the wonderful products and the kind and helpful service.

    Great, light quilt

Posted by Wandering Dirtbag on 19th Oct 2019

I love this quilt. I bought the 20 degree, wide, normal length, premium with 2 ounces of overstuff and zippered bottom. I have had it for 4 months and have used it for 16 nights on different trips. The lowest temperature I have used it at was 38 degrees. I woke up with cold feet that night, and felt a draft through the small hole in the bottom of the quilt created by synching it down. I used my foot to push the hole under my feet and I was cozy the rest of the night. I would say that my bag is good to around 30 degrees, I don't think I would want to take it down below 30 as it is more drafty than I mummy style sleeping bag. I hate being stuck in a mummy sleeping bag though, especially as a side sleeper and this quilt is a dream to sleep in. It allows me to stretch out, stick a limb out if I am warm (I could barely sleep under this quilt when the lows were in the high 50's it was so warm). I foresee myself using this quilt spring, high elevation summer camping and fall but I will switch to my 0 degree mummy bag for winter camping.

The workmanship of the bag is great, the stitching is well done, the fabric is thin, light but doesn't feel too fragile. I love this quilt and will definitely look into purchasing more gear from this company.

My only two suggestions for change, the top of the quilt has a draw string that allows you to seal the quilt around your neck, I wish the drawstring pull was on one side of the quilt or the other, not in the middle. Having it in the middle, I would wake up at night with it tickling my neck. The other suggestion is that I would have left some loose fabric at the bottom of the quilt (maybe 1/4 inch), when you synch down the bottom of the bag, there is still a small hole that air gets in through. Leaving a small amount of fabric at the very bottom might help prevent this drafty spot.

    It works well

Posted by Will K on 14th Oct 2019

Bought my 0 degree top and bottom quilt set for off-season back-packing trips....just to be safe side for temp ratings. So far, used it for a trip to the AT for spring break back-packing. Multiple nights in the 20s and I literally had to ventilate in the night because I was getting too warm. That was a really good problem to have in my mind LOL. I got the wide size top quilt for ground camping, but haven't tried it like that yet. I'll have to update this post in the future.

    Premium burrow

Posted by Bonnie on 5th Oct 2019

Awesome Quilt that has far exceeded expectations. Great loft, super light and exceptional attention to detail in the manufacture. Speedy turnaround on my order and I really couldn’t be more happy with it. No delivery dramas at all, despite having it sent to Australia. Love the olive green and black combo. Thanks HG, rate you very highly indeed!

the quilt was great- toasty and very lightweight. I did get the extra sleeping bag straps but have not used yet. I am not a huge fan of the strap closure setup but overall great bag

Now I have only used this quilt for one trip so far but I can say for certain that this is an amazing piece of kit. The quality and craftsmanship of the quilt are top notch and I see this quilt holding up to years of use. I like the different ways you can get it set up and all the color and rating options. But by far the best part is how light weight it is and how small it packs down. I was transitioning from a military surplus sleep system and wanted something for the warmer months that was easier to pack and this was exactly what I was looking for. The Burrow came highly recommended and did not disappoint. And aside from the quality, features, and options you cannot beat HG's CS. I emailed asking about placing and order and receiving it in time for an upcoming trip, I was assured my order would ship in time and it was by far. From time of order to when it was sitting on my door step was 8 days! I am very impressed with not only the quilt but HG in general and would recommend anyone try their gear, you wont be disappointed.
