    Just right

Posted by Michael on 11th May 2018

For reference, I'm 6'2", 280. Fluffy, you might say.

This underquit is perfectly sized. It wraps around your shoulders just right, and runs down to just under my knees. I'm a warm sleeper, but even at 45 degrees, this is warm but not stifling. Together with my 30 degree HG top quilt, I find my body temp management is perfect, I sleep like a baby.

Buy this under quilt. You won't regret it.

The phoenix 30 is a great size. Im a fairly broad guy and it keeps my shoulders warm. Its super light and well constructed. The suspension is super easy. I couldn't be happier.

    I wish I had known..............

Posted by DC Bray on 3rd Dec 2017

I have for years used another popular hammock underquilt made by the same company that makes hammocks. I LOVE those hammocks but I had a problem with their underquilt always slipping to one side in the middle of the night. Freezing, I'd get up several times in the night to adjust the UQ. Then I switched to Hammock Gear. WHAT RELIEF! The extra few inches of width, the adjustable collar, and the awesome suspension system ended the UQ slippage during the night!!! The quality of the fabric and baffles were even more wind-proof for the underside. I stay so roasty-toasty warm that I don't have to carry as much night layers of clothes so I've lightened my pack, too! Also, being able to personalize your gear with color choices makes identifying each other's gear easier when packing for the family. I'm now replacing all my past UQs with Hammock Gear UQs!

    Quality and Value

Posted by Claudia Wilson/Slack Packhiker/Lucy on the trail on 14th Mar 2017

HG offers high quality and gear that is value priced. The construction of my 0 degree Phoenix is flawless. It's a combo of beauty and function. Puffy down snugged up against the hammock promises and delivers warmth and comfort.

Additionally, HG is completely tuned into customer satisfaction on all fronts. They do take care of business, earnestly.

Love these guys and their quilts

    amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by juju on 14th Mar 2016

I can't say enough good things about this quilt, Phoenix 40+. It is my first time dealing with hammock gear and it won't be my last. I ordered my quilt with one ounce of overstuff. I tried it out last week on an overnighter in the otter creek wilderness with nighttime temps a little cooler than we were expecting, 29f, it did great. I had a little more clothes on but my only cold spots were on my front side. Now I'll be ordering a top quilt so that won't happen again. The service was amazing.

    UL and peaceful sleep

Posted by Hiker Mike on 20th Jan 2016

Paired with the Burrow 20 for my first night out slept in 27 degrees. So much better sleep than trying to old sleeping pad in a hammock. Had them customize for me and add some length in lieu of some width to fit my 6'4" thin frame and my sub7 eno hammock. I got more REM sleep that night than I normally do in two nights at home according to my watch. The HG products with the rest of my sleep system have my base pack weight under 11lb for winter backpacking.

Why did I wait so long to buy this?!?

Posted by Joel on 31st Dec 2015

Having moved over to hammock camping this previous season, I knew an Underquilt was in my future. I hang with a group of friends that have a lot of different gear so I was able to see a lot of different products from multiple vendors. The price was a bit above my casual camping budget, but after doing my own research I decided to spend the cash and get a Hammock Gear Phoenix 20 with 1oz of overstuff. It came FAST and I could immediately see the QUALITY in the workmanship. Not a stitch out of place and the down's loft is much better than any of my other down gear. My first night out took the mercury down to 32 degrees and I could not get over how warm I was. Even with some steady wind and spitting rain on my tarp, I felt like there was an electric blanket in my hammock and had to vent a little. If you are on the fence about spending the cash on a quilt, don't hesitate on this one! Miles better than the ENO's I checked out and customer service is INCREDIBLE. Looking forward to colder weather so I can test the Phoenix's limits, but I definitely have full confidence in the rating. Currently saving up for a Burrow 20.

Toasty warm on the Appalachian Trail

Posted by James on 1st Dec 2015

I recently started hammock hiking and needed an under quilt for a multi-hike on the AT. Ordered the Pheonix 20 and it performed beautifully. It easily attached to my Speer Hammock. The adjustments snugged it up well. I was warm every night with varying wind speeds and rain. I'd recommend this UQ to anyone.

    it works!

Posted by patfiveshot on 29th Nov 2015

It's like laying upon a sunlit beach on the warm sand, swinging in the breeze with little butterflies dancing upon your toes and lulling you to sleep to the soft sounds of tropical breezes....but in winter.
