Dyneema® Composite hammock tarp (previously known as Cuben Fiber), a high-performance base non-woven fabric, is quickly gaining popularity in the hiking community. Our opaque Hex Tarp is a dedicated shelter designed without doors, for use with a hammock. The tarp has 2 panel pull outs (one on each side), 4 perimeter tie-outs, and 2 ridgeline tie outs. We use 1/2 inch D-Rings on all tie outs.  We also offer the option to upgrade all of the tie outs with LineLoc3 tension hardware to create a knot free set up! If you choose to upgrade to LineLoc3 hardware, we highly suggest adding two of our Titanium Clips to the ridgeline to completely eliminating the need for knots. Our hammock tarps ship with a Dyneema® stuff sack and repair kit for field repairs.

Guylines do not come standard with our tarps. However, we do offer discounted hanks of our reflective guyline in combination with any tarp purchase! Simply select your desired hank color for instant savings.

Air feels heavier than this tarp.

Posted by Ivo K on 28th Aug 2018

I was amazed with how light this tarp was when it arrived.
Tested it during a two days hammock camping trip in heavy rain and wind and it worked amazingly well.
I recommend using it with Dutch stingerz instead of a continuous ridge line.
And bring earplugs! (It can be a bit noisy when the water hits the tarp.

    Great product excellent customer service.

Posted by Jordan on 16th Aug 2018

I am always looking for ways to cut down my pack weight but was hesisitant to upgrade my tarp to cuben fiber because of the cost of the material. My only regret at this point is not doing it sooner. Hammock Gears craftsmanship is top notch. The cuben fiber hex tarp allowed me to cut my tarp weight more than in half. The durability of the tarp is great and after five days of rain and hail on a recent trip without getting wet I’m really impressed. This is one piece of gear that will never leave my pack. That’s not even the best part, the thing that impressed me the most was the customer service I received. I received several personal emails from a real person to update me on my order and helped me with some custom requests and questions I had, usually the same day I contacted them.

    pure quality

What can I say, this tarp is amazing! It only weighs a little over 5oz. Packs down pretty small. Exceeded expectations. I took this tarp out on a 2night backpacking trip. I expected rain on one of the nights, ended up getting poured on both nights and stayed completely dry the whole time. Can not thank the team at hammock gear enough.

    favorite tarp

Posted by Unknown on 29th May 2018

What can I say, this thing is super lightweight, easy to use ( only 6 main connection points) and 100% waterproof. Currently my go to favorite tarp. If you are cutting weight for an UL hike this deffinitly one way to save a bunch of oz. 12' ridge with zingit crl, ti stakes, zingit tie outs and mesh snake skin and I'm still under 12 oz.

Can I give it a sixth star?!

Posted by lord Hartman on 16th Apr 2018

As always their products are always Amazing!! This is the second tarp I have bought from them. I would never dream of buying a tarp from anywhere else. The quality and value is out of this world! There customer service is also constantly one of the beat in the business! My only complaint is how addictive ordering from them has been; 5 quilts, two tarps, and a larg assortment of other odds and ends.

    Quality product

High quality product. Tested during heavy rain and felt extremely comfortable under the 12foot model. Camo print is perfect to allow some star gazing at night but protect from sun during the day.

    UL hammocker's best friend!!

Posted by Bob Moulder on 29th Nov 2017

Coming from a UL background I thought I would have to forget about achieving the very low base weights I was accustomed to with tarp-and-bivy setups, but this tarp combined with other UL hammock choices will allow me to go just as light while hanging. I've used this tarp a couple of times and have been very happy with its coverage —it's so light there's no need to compromise with an asymmetrical tarp.

    Fantastic Weight Saver

Posted by Unknown on 26th Oct 2017

I have a big winter tarp, but wanted something smaller and lighterfor backpacking. I got exactly that, as I went from 22 ounces to 5 ounces. I loved this tarp from the minute I got. It is crazy just how light it is. It fits perfectly inthe snakeskin sleeve as well. With a CRL and tarpworms from Dutch, setup is a breeze. Since Cuben is opaque, I opted for the cammo color. This tarp provided enough coverage during rainstorms. I haven't been able to test it yet in a driving rain. This did exactly what I needed and allowed me to backpack 72 miles in 5 days on the AT.

Once again another great product from hammock gear. Super light great coverage with the 11 foot. Took it out last weekend. It was super light and had a lot of wind and rain. Not noisy like I thought.

    all around awesome

Great lightweight, packable tarp that will definitely give you protection from any rain and snow. I was impressed with how fast i recieved it, then i was blown away when i set it up over my hammock! I only pitch my tarps when the weather calls for it [rain/snow]. I pack my asym smaller tarp on my trips in NY, NJ and PA when the weather predictions are not calling for heavy and/or steady constant rain/snow. I wanted more protection and dry space if the weather will be nasty, and i believe this tarp will be perfect for that. You will NOT be disappointed if you buy this tarp..wheather you carry it on all your trips and use it as your primary tarp, or if you switch tarps depending on the forecast. It will have you covered!!

    Really light

Posted by John on 12th Sep 2017

I have several tarps, many of them silnylon. A few of them mist slightly in heavy rain. All of them weigh significantly more when wet. I thought I would give Cuben a try and ordered one with Linelocs installed instead of 'D' rings. The first time I tried it was on a peak with no rain forecasted but I took it just in case. Well... the forecast was wrong and there was a thunderstorm out of nowhere. I barely got it staked out before the storm hit. Needless to say, there was a lot of wind but the tarp did fine. Once the storm passed, the tarp dried quickly of course there was no misting. This thing is lighter than my smallest silnylon tarp but covers nearly four times the area. Thanks Hammock Gear.
