Whoopie slings

While I've heard they may not work so well in the winter, whoopie slings are the ideal suspension system for 3 season hammock camping. Extremely light, easy to use, and cheap. I was skeptical of their durability being so thin but they hold up very well.

good and bad and the ugly

first thought is they looked a little light for hammocking for someone over 200 lbs worked great tell one broke on me on a Canada backpack trip at the start of the night make it work with one woopie sling but the next morning the second one snapped and left me with out a bed in the cold mountains at 530 In the morning lucky my tree savers had clipping point for the next day sleep but my opinion is they need to have a stronger sling or I got a defective sling

Hi Noble,

Thanks for sharing your experienceand for including a photo as well. Im really sorry to hear about the failure on your trip. Thats definitely not the kind of hang we want anyone to have, especially out in the cold mountains of Canada.

Our whoopie slings are rated to handle well over 1,000 lbs of static weight, so a break like that usually points to a defect or abrasion issue. Either way, wed love to make it right. If youre open to it, feel free to reach out to us directly at sales@hammockgear.com so we can dig a little deeper and get a replacement sent your way.

Appreciate you taking the time to leave a reviewand again, sorry for the rough night on trail.

Good value Whoopie!

Ive used these HG Whoopie slings on my Circadian Pro hammock and like them for their lightweight, as opposed to rope or webbing. Im not sure the plastic bead is necessary since theyve broken and fallen off my first set of slings. Maybe a metal bead would make more sense? The bead stops the adjustable loop from closing into itself, but Im mindful of this and havent tightened the loop that far. Still a great product and thats why I ordered another pair for a different hammock.

Thanks for the great feedback, Bradleyand for coming back for another pair!

Were glad to hear youre enjoying the lightweight performance of our Whoopie Slings on your Circadian Pro. When you're dialing in a hang system for ultralight setups, every ounce and inch of simplicity counts, and it's great to know these are working well for you overall.

You're absolutely right about the beadits purpose is just to prevent the adjustable loop from inverting itself under tension. While weve stuck with the plastic option for weight and ease of use, we definitely understand your point about durability. Were currently testing some alternative materials (including metal) for future iterations, so your feedback is right on time.

Thanks again for the review and for being part of the HG communitywe appreciate your support!
