The Economy Burrow is a favorite of both hammock and ground campers around the world. Made with 20 denier nylon taffeta fabric that features a Nikwax DWR® (durable water resistant) coating to help shed moisture, and an internal calendared finish for down proof construction. Each quilt is generously filled with RDS Certified, 800 fill power, Nikwax® DWR treated duck down to provide insulation on the top and sides of your body, while eliminating flattened and otherwise ineffective insulation underneath. By forgoing the least insulating elements found in most sleeping bags such as a full length zipper, hood, and backside materials our top quilt design will keep you warm and save precious weight and space. Whether accompanied by a ground pad or underquilt, The Economy Burrow will keep you comfortably warm down to its temperature rating with any sleep system. When using The Economy Burrow in conjunction with any ground sleep system, upgrading to a wide width is highly recommended for adequate coverage along the sides of your body.  Proudly made in the USA.

    Excellent value

Posted by Jason Lav on 23rd Aug 2019

The craftsmanship of the economy burrow is impeccable. The quilt compresses quite small and puffs right back up. The duck down in this quilt appears no different than goose down. No smells and no leakage. I purchased the short and wide 20-degree version for ground sleeping. I am 5 ft. 6 in. and the length is perfect. The quilt is reasonably wide, but can let in drafts while turning (typical symptom of a quilt). The temperature rating seems be equivalent with other brands I have used. I used it in the upper 30s and stayed comfortable. I would not use it down to 20-degrees as I sleep rather cold. On warm nights, the footbox can be unzipped to create a rectangular blanket for easy venting. On cooler nights, the footbox can be zipped up to keep the warmth in. This may be a great benefit for those who get claustrophobic in mummy bags.

The one minor issue I have noticed is the drawstring in the footbox leaves about a half in hole when fully cinched. Easily remedied by stuffing a beanie, buff, or sock into the hole.

Overall, the economy burrow is an amazing quality quilt for an incredibly low price. I am not regretting my choice to go with the economy quilt over the premium quilt. The only possible change I might make is to purchase overstuffing for greater longevity.

    Burrow

Posted by Samuel Schoonover on 23rd Aug 2019

This is a product that has changed the way I camp. My sleep is the best. I have two of these and my wife now claims one as her own. Quality shows throughout this top quilt. The company makes things easy and are there to answer questions. I cant give HG enough praise. Great team over there. They make the best gear.

    30 Degree Economy Burrow

Posted by Mathews Cook on 22nd Aug 2019

Just wanted to give a shout out to Hammock Gear and the Economy Burrow they recently made for me. I had ordered the new Nemo Siren quilt (my first quilt) and was extremely disappointed with the quality and fill rate. I sold it and ordered an economy burrow from Hammock Gear last Monday. Tuesday morning I had regrets about my order specs and asked if I could adjust my order by bumping from 40 to 30 degrees and adding 2oz of overfill. They were more than helpful and said no problem, sent me a revised bill via PayPal and I was all squared up before noon. I was originally quote 1-2 weeks for the build and that Thursday I got notice that my order had shipped! I received the quilt that Saturday and could not be more pleased with the product. I ordered a 30 degree quilt, extra long and extra wide, 2oz overfill and zippered footbox with ground pad attachment. Going to use it this weekend and if all goes well I will definitely look to these guys for my colder weather build in the future, I am thinking about the premium burrow with 950 goose down fill at 10 degrees with 2oz overfill.

    Cozy and compact

Posted by Aiyin on 16th Aug 2019

I got the 20 deg wide with 2 oz overstuff and sleeping pad attachment system. Used it for a backpacking trip in CO where it dropped into the low 40s with rain and hail. It was really easy to attach to my pad and packed down very nicely for hiking in/out of the mountains. I was cozy at night minus my shoulders, but I am a side sleeper so I just threw my puffy on to help with that. Overall an awesome quilt that I know will be great for future trips!

    Great product, great customer service

Posted by Anna on 15th Aug 2019

After having to shorten two trips due to an excessively heavy pack, I took a close look at my basic gear and discovered my sleeping bag was way heavier than I realized.

I sleep pretty warm, and did not have the funds for a new sleeping bag. Luckily, the org I work for had just done an article about backpacking quilts so I thought I would try one out. I shopped around but most of what I found was still out of my price range. Luckily, a coworker has this same bag suggested I try it.

A great price, and its been just what I needed.

It has been on two trips so far this summer, and I anticipate bringing it on my fall backpacking trip in September. I was a little cold on my last trip, but we were at 7000+ feet, the nights were a brisk 35 degrees, and I would decided to not bring long underwear. I am confident I would have been cozy if I had brought long pants to sleep in.

I see a lot of other people have mentioned this, but I will add my voice to the chorus: Hammock Gears customer service is fantastic. I ordered this item at the beginning of July, and in the shipping notes said I hoped to get it by the end of the month for my aforementioned trip. Not only did I get a personal email from an employee confirming I would have the quilt by the end of July, but I got it early; in time for a backpacking trip I had planned the *week after* I ordered the item! That efficiency and personal contact was so appreciated.

    Burrow 20-deg

Posted by Todd on 11th Aug 2019

Used on a 2-week Scout Adventure in Philmont, NM. Could not be happier with my purchase. Cool nights down in 40s at 10,000 ft I was comfortable with sleeping pad underneath. Loved the breathing hole in foot box as my feet otherwise get hot.

    Economy borrow

Posted by Unknown on 11th Aug 2019

A wonderful product. I used it on the 100 mile wilderness of the AT and it performed flawlessly. It packs small and has really good warmth, I did not have to fluff it that much out of the compression sack to get it to full expansion. I will probably be a hammock gear product user from now on.

Blown away by the quality and customer service.

Posted by Derek Rosenberg on 10th Aug 2019

In my honest opinion, I do not believe there is a better value for your money on the market. My Long/ Wide compresses amazingly and I cannot tell the difference between duck and goose down other than a small difference in smell. I have used this quilt for 3 months and about 10 nights of camping and have been toasty with no cold spots to speak of. I will be permanently replacing my REI Magma 15 for everything other than sleeping in severe cold. The quality in every aspect of this quilt blew me away from stitching to features and so on (it has that indescribable durable feeling in your hands). Finally, the responsiveness and help I received from Harry Carlson in customer care was amazing, Hammock Gear has a customer for life.

I am 6 ft. 3 in. 225lbs with wide shoulders. My Econ Burrow Black/ Black; Long/ Wide; 30 Degree Quilt; Zipper footbox weighed in at exactly 21.5877 oz, and fit me perfectly up to my chin.

I could not be happier with my purchase, I will be buying again, and would recommend. If you are on the fence, go for it! You will see what I mean!

    Great Quilt!

Posted by Jennifer on 7th Aug 2019

I bought this to use on the TRT due to the extra snow this season. I hated my cheap bag that was not warm enough so I went ahead and spent the money on something I could use for a long time. I was NOT disappointed. Nor was I too cold or too hot.

    Great Blanket

Posted by Thron on 4th Aug 2019

I took a risk and switched from a mummy bag to the blanket hoping it was a good choice. It worked better than I expected! Just got back from 7 days in the High Sierras and it worked great. The nights were in the upper 30s to low 40s. with the toe box closed I was hot. Later on I went to Yosemite Valley with temps in the upper 40s and was comfortable with the toe box open. This is so much better than my old mummy bag. Great product that I would highly recommend.
