Trek: A Versatile Hammock Tarp

The Trek is a versatile silpoly tarp built for the backcountry. It works as both a hammock tarp and a ground tarp, so you can pitch it your way. Made from lightweight 20D silicone-impregnated ripstop polyester, it sheds rain and wind with ease. In addition, this tarp weighs barely over a pound. As a result, The Trek slips into your pack without weighing you down. Whether you sleep in a hammock or on the ground, it has you covered.

Lightweight, Weatherproof SilPoly Fabric

The Trek is made from 20D silpoly, a silicone-impregnated polyester. This fabric is lightweight and durable, with very little stretch. Because of this, your shelter stays taut and reliable in wind and rain. It also comes in four colors across two ridgeline lengths.

Endless Setup Options on The Trek

Setup options are nearly endless with this tarp. You get 14 perimeter tie-outs, 2 ridgeline tie-outs, and 2 panel pull-outs per side. Each point uses a sturdy D-ring for quick, secure guying. You can also upgrade to LineLoc3 hardware for a knot-free pitch. Then, add a pair of Titanium Clips to skip knots entirely. The result is a fast, clean pitch in almost any terrain.

Hammock Tarp or Ground Tarp

Because The Trek is a hybrid, it adapts to how you camp. Hang it over your hammock for full overhead coverage. Alternatively, pitch it low to the ground as a storm shelter. For a freestanding ground pitch, just add a set of support poles. Of course, you can also rig it as a porch or sun shade. Either way, the wide 9-foot-6 span gives you plenty of room.

Packed and Ready to Pitch

The Trek ships with a matching silpoly stuff sack. It also includes seam sealer for waterproofing the stitching. Depending on size, the whole tarp weighs about 16 to 18 ounces. Therefore, it stays light enough for long miles on the trail.

Make The Trek Your Own

Guylines are not standard, so you can choose exactly what you need. However, discounted reflective guyline hanks are available with any tarp. Simply pick your hank length and color to save instantly. You can also pack it neatly with a stake sack and a matching accessory kit. Finally, follow Leave No Trace principles and REI’s guide to hammock camping. That way, you tread lightly on every trip.

Ive spent 12 days on the Pinhoti Trail with the Trek 12 ridge line. It kept me dry during 3 days of rain that came through following a tropical storm. I also used it on nights it wasnt raining just because I preferred to. I didnt opt for line locks, and I didnt miss them. I did opt for the stakes which are very lightweight, the stake bag, the D rings, and the orange guy line. Very pleased with everything, and it performed great! Seem sealing takes a little time, but isnt hard. I cut my guy line to 10 sections, and that has been more than enough to get the job done. This bad boy is all you need to complete your sleep system.

I really like this tarp. I like the camo pattern. Works great for hammock and ground. My only complaint is that the bag it comes with is too small once you have rigged it out and put a snakeskin on it. I rely on the bag for packing the tarp in my bike bag when wet. Please make a bigger bag.thanks!

  1. JS
    Good product

Packs down to substantially less size than my previous fly. It’s a bit large as a hammock rain fly but I love that it has so many tie down points and is extremely modular in set up.
Using this on a thru hike. Works very well.

    The Trek

Was worried it would be too big but it turned out to be great, my friends had tents and it began to rain, all three of us were able to sit and cook under my tarp. Also it kept my Hammock Gear under quilt nice and dry and as a bonus it easily fit into my snakeskin with my hammock. Happy customer and great company

    Light, compact, and versatile

Totally impressed with this tarp. It packs small and weighs very little. Lots of places to tie it out for set up. The Line Locs are handy when I dont feel like using knots. The seam sealer took two days to dry when I first set it up but itll be storm worthy for a long time.

    Perfect light tarp

All I needed was a lighter tarp. My goal isnt ultra light, but this is way better than the entry tarp I started with. This one is great and easily configures to have doors. It was easy to seam seal it too, since the silicone is included with the purchase. First camping trip went well, and I’m looking forward to using this tarp for more to come!
