    economy burrow

Posted by Amanda on 2nd Aug 2019

This bag is perfect! I use it for ground sleeping, and it is much more comfortable than my mummy bag, and is much lighter and takes up more room. I did not buy the fasteners to attach it to the sleeping pad, which I should have done, so will be ordering those next. Without, it is a little breezy on the side when you roll over.

    Great Warm and Soft

Posted by Dante on 2nd Aug 2019

Very happy with this purchase. I went with the 20 degree one and it is almost too hot, but id rather be too hot in testing than too cold when I need the warmth. Overall design is great, plus it feels like it is made of anti-gravity if you are used to other more generic sleeping bags, this thing is crazy lightweight!

    Fantastic product, better customer service.

Posted by Derek Rosenberg on 31st Jul 2019

I am blown away by the quality of the Econ burrow. I got the long/ wide edition and every detail from the stitching to the fabric quality is absolutely top of the line. The quilt is highly durable. This quilt is my first introduction to quilts which is why I went with the Econ. Was not sure if I could trade in my bag for a quilt but this product has completely changed my mind. I love the adaptability and the weight savings.

Next I have to mention that Hammock Gears customer service is some of the best I have ever received from any company. I will not go into too much detail about my issue but it had to do with a shipping error on USPS side. HARRY CARLSONs responsiveness and help with the matter went far above and beyond my expectations. This aspect of a company is very important to me and Hammock Gear has a customer for life. Happy to spread the word on their products and would highly recommend to a friend.

Awesome, great product and great customer service

    Posted by E.C. on 29th Jul 2019

I got the 20F Econ Burrow, regular length, wide for ground sleeping. I inspected it upon arrival and all seams and baffle stitches looked flawless. And man, this thing is light.

I have used it beach camping when it got no lower than 60F which did not push its weather envelope. But it was nice a light and comfy even when it was warm. Keeping it unzipped made it easy to hang a leg out.

More recently I took it up to the Sierras, just outside Bridgeport, where the temp dipped down to the mid/upper 40s. The light weight really helped reduce overall pack weight and the temp rating, accompanied with a Thermarest Scout pad, was a great combo. It kept me nice and warm with only light weight long underwear and long sleeve top. I am sure it could handle lower temps and even lower with heavier weight sleeping clothes on.

The stuff sack is just the right size to make it small, yet easy to stuff. Even my 12 y.o. son was able to stuff it in by himself. I cannot wait to get him one so he can begin to carry his own sleeping system.

Highly recommend. It is nice to even have the option to customize the colors, overfill, zipper, length, and width.

Customer service was awesome. I had a couple questions and they were very responsive. I ordered it with a little bit shorter timeline then they promised on the web site and they easily got it here on time with not even extra costs for shipping.

I will be ordering another soon for my son.

    Love this quilt

Posted by Donna Peterson on 26th Jul 2019

Once I decided I really did not like Mummy style sleeping bags, I started doing some research. Decided on the 10-degree option of this quilt, in the standard length and wide width as recommended.
Worked well on my first time out with it but I noticed a minor issue with the zipper and notified the company. Customer service was outstanding. They responded immediately and shipped a replacement. Cannot wait to use it again. Great product with great communication and customer service. Very happy.

    Top Notch Quilt!

Posted by Heidi on 19th Jul 2019

My husband and I ordered two of the Economy Burrow quilts to update our backpacking kits for this season and not only did we get them EARLIER than anticipated, we absolutely fell in love with them! These are extremely well made and you can feel the quality construction...no loose threads, no weird stitching, no down escaping. Feels like almost nothing in the pack, but puffs up to super-softness when you release it from captivity. We were warm and cozy all night, and love the option of tying it around the neckline if its cooler OR venting the footbox if the temps are warmer. This is an incredible deal at the most reasonable price for the quality. Could not be happier with this purchase, and we will be back again I am sure!

    Economy Burrow

Posted by Pippi on 18th Jul 2019

I love it! I love everything about it! I bought the 30° economy top quilt. I already own a high-quality 10° sleeping bag, but I wanted something lighter for summer months. I am surprised at the quality of this bag for the price. This is my first quilt and I am glad I chose the zipper foot box with the drawstring. I am pleased with the quality of the fill in the fabric. The color blue turned out much better than I expected, almost a teal color. The weight turned to be spot on at 19 ounces. Overall, very impressive, with a very impressive price.

    Econ. Burrow Quilt

Posted by Lance Smith on 18th Jul 2019

I have used the quilt 2 nights. The quilt was great. It performed well. Temps were well above the rating I purchased. The only issue I had is with the pad attachments. They kept coming off the gros grain loops and the elastic cordage. I am going to use some duct tape to hopefully keep them attached next trip. Overall, very satisfied with the purchase and the price.

Econ Burrow 20°F Wide, Sewn Footbox

Posted by Nathan on 17th Jul 2019

I spent about six months researching and pondering over top quilts and finally decided on what I believe to be the perfect quilt to suit my needs. I decided on a sewn footbox because I wanted guaranteed warm toes with no fuss and the wide version to minimize drafts whether I am in my hammock or on the ground. I just spent a week in west Texas in the Davis Mountains in July with temps between 60° and 90°F. My new 20°F quilt was perfect in the early morning hours to knock the chill off of me in combination with a 0°F Wooki under quilt (overkill I know - but I can only afford one set of quilts). My main concern with deciding on quilts was to have a wide temperature range from below freezing to the point that it becomes too hot for any quilts (I did spend one night in central Texas and used no insulation). The Burrow was easy to have in my hammock for the inevitable morning chill in the mountains. It was easy to pull on and off to regulate my temperature as needed. I was never too hot or annoying that the quilt was in the hammock with me. Below about 75°F the 20° Burrow was wonderful. I am also very confident after reading all the reviews that I will be comfortable all the way down to 20° with regular cold weather sleeping clothes, but I will not know for sure for several more months. The customer service has been excellent. Harry has answered many questions for me and always responds quickly. The construction and materials of my quilt are excellent. There are even triangle D-rings on the grosgrain loops along the edges of the quilt that I was not expecting. I have heard some people say that duck down can have an odor, but my quilt had no odor. My 850 fill goose down Warbonnet Wooki actually had a slight odor that quickly dissipated. The HG duck down was totally odor free from day one. I am very happy with my purchase
and look forward to many years of reliable use from it. I cannot wait for winter to test the lower limits of my quilt! If your budget is limited and you want a quilt that will last many years (the Econ quilt has more durable fabric than premium quilts) then the Econ Burrow 20°F is an excellent choice. And I do not regret the sewn footbox one bit even in warm temperatures. Thanks Hammock Gear!!

No reason not to try a quilt!

Posted by Albert on 15th Jul 2019

This is my first quilt and it is under $200! I got the 30F, standard length, wide, zippered footbox, in orange color. I have not used it in temperature approaching the rating but hope to do so in the fall. Right now its a cool summer in the Pacific Northwest. The quilt worked great (although the attachment system did not) in 50F nighttime temperatures. I was plenty warm, so much so that I did not need to cinch up the collar. At this price, it will allow me to try out a quilt and see what I like and dislike about quilts. Its a deal you should not pass up if you are thinking of switching to a quilt from a traditional sleeping bag.

    Great quilt, minimal problems

Posted by Brandon on 10th Jul 2019

I recently purchased two of these quilts (20* rating) for my wife and I. I am not a super experienced backpacker, and have only taken them on one two-night trip so far. Weather was windy and dropped to around 40* at night and the bags did well in combination with our insulated pads (Big Agnes Insulated Air Core ultra and Q-Core SLX). We wore base layers and socks, and did not attach the quilts to the pads.
The only issues I have had thus far are in the stitching. There was a broken thread in my wifes bag at the top seam - made about a 1.5 cm hole. I plan to stitch this up. There are also some loops at the bottom of the stuff sacks, one of which ripped off when pulled. That was a quick easy fix.
I would recommend these quilts if you are on a budget and do not mind inspecting things to make sure you do not have to stitch anything up.
