Dyneema® Composite hammock tarp (previously known as Cuben Fiber), a high-performance base non-woven fabric, is quickly gaining popularity in the hiking community. Our opaque Hex Tarp is a dedicated shelter designed without doors, for use with a hammock. The tarp has 2 panel pull outs (one on each side), 4 perimeter tie-outs, and 2 ridgeline tie outs. We use 1/2 inch D-Rings on all tie outs.  We also offer the option to upgrade all of the tie outs with LineLoc3 tension hardware to create a knot free set up! If you choose to upgrade to LineLoc3 hardware, we highly suggest adding two of our Line Clips to the ridgeline to completely eliminating the need for knots as all hardware will be LineLoc3s, including the ridgeline.  Our hammock tarps ship with a Dyneema® stuff sack and repair kit for field repairs.

Guylines do not come standard with our tarps. However, we do offer discounted hanks of our reflective guyline in combination with any tarp purchase! Simply select your desired hank color for instant savings.

100′ : 25% off MSRP

  • Hex tarp model is 8’6″ at the widest point
  • .50 oz/yd² for Green Dyneema® Composite
  • .60 oz/yd² for Camo Dyneema® Composite
  • Available in ridgeline lengths of 11 or 12 feet
  • Fully taped ridgeline is waterproof and does not require seam sealing
  • All tie-out points are bonded and sewn for maximum strength
  • Dyneema® composite has zero stretch to eliminate sagging when wet. Because of this quality, we also highly recommend adding shock cord loops to all tie-put points for added protection from damage in high-winds. It is equally important to not overtighten tie-out point as this can compromise the material over time.

I dig it

Havent used it more than just setting it up. But its super light, very packable, and seems to be made really well. Very simple to use with the line locs. Once the weather gets a bit warmer, I will sleeping under this all summer!

Hey David,

Appreciate you taking the time to leave a review! Glad to hear your first impressions are solidand once summer rolls in, I think you're going to love how that Hex Tarp performs in the wild. Lightweight, low fuss, and ready for anything. Hope it treats you to a season full of great hangs!

Noisy and transparent.

I wish I had not bought this tarp for 2 reasons. I forgot how noisy this fabric is. It would keep me awake all night on a windy night. Second,, I often take mid day breaks in my hikes and occasionally don't have shade. I need my tarp to block the bright sun. This tarp will allow the bright sun right through.

Hi Mark, Dyneema tarps are not for everyone. They are relatively translucent and one of the largest complaints about them is that they are noisier than silnylon tarps. People get hung up and excited over how light they are, but don't truly understand the fabric. As with anything, if you are not familiar with the product, the best thing to do is to see it firsthand. If that isn't an option, doing a lot of research on the pros and cons of an item or a fabric is always recommended. If you are an ultralight hiker and you take care of your gear, a dyneema tarp will last for a very long time and provide great waterproof coverage for many years. If you are just looking for something to provide shade and coverage for wet days, sometimes a silnylon tarp is a better fit if you don't care about the weight penalty. I guarantee that you can post that tarp up on a backpacking resale site or an outdoor gear swap page and it will be gone very quickly, there are always people looking for the ultralight performance of a dyneema tarp. Sorry it didn't fit your needs!

Wind and water proof

5 day trip in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area of northern MN. Several thunderstorms, over 4 inches of rain and everything underneath stayed dry. Impressive - but even more impressive was days of sustained winds, with one day having gusts of 50 mph! Ive used this tarp for years and it just wont quit.
