Lightweight and durable with minimal stretch, the silicone impregnated ripstop polyester fabric 1.1 oz / yd² (20D) of the Hammock Gear Journey Tarp will keep you out of the elements. This durable, ultralight backpacking tarp system with doors is both water and windproof, and resists the retention of water much better than traditional nylon tarps and tents. Reinforced with 210D Polyester, all tie outs are built with grosgrain, and come standard featuring 1/2″ Beastee D-Rings on the 6 perimeter tie outs, 4 door tie outs, 4 panel pull outs, and 3/4″ Beastee D-Rings on the ridgeline tie outs. We also offer the option to upgrade all of the tie outs with LineLoc3 tension hardware to create a knot free set up! If you choose to upgrade the Hammock Gear Journey Tarp to LineLoc3 hardware, we highly suggest adding two of our Line Clips to the ridgeline to completely eliminating the need for knots. We provide a free seam sealing kit, standard with each order to waterproof the ultralight backpacking tarp. The four diamond panel pull outs require seam sealing.

Guylines do not come standard with our tarps. However, we do offer discounted hanks of our reflective guyline in combination with any tarp purchase! Simply select your color and desired hank length for over 30% your guyline.

Looking for a tarp to shelter your bridge hammock? Upgrade to our 12′ ridgeline for adequate space to accommodate your spreader bars!

Best new hammock tarp

I just finished seem sealing and testing this tarp in a downpour and it kept me completely dry! I really appreciate how lightweight the tarp is for its size. So much better than my nylon tarp.

Hi Josiah,

Thanks for taking the time to share your experienceand for giving the Journey tarp a proper field test in a downpour! I'm glad to hear it passed with flying (and dry) colors. The weight savings really do add up, especially when you're swapping out heavier nylon for silpoly or Dyneema.

Its awesome to hear youre getting dialed in with your setup. If you ever need anything down the roadaccessories, upgrades, or just some adviceweve got your back.

Quality

Build quality is superb! I haven't had a chance to take it on a trip yet, but I have set it up, it is seam sealed and ready to go! It even arrived earlier than expected. Great company to work with.

Thanks so much, Leon!

Incredibly functional and agile!

I upgraded from a 13x10 SilNylon tarp, which I thought at the time was a good tarp, until I received the Journey. The OD green is like a Ranger green, blends very well with the environment. The doors are great - The tarp sleeve made the deployment and pack-up a breeze. I bought the extra 150ft cordage, cut up (15) 10ft sections with a loop, attached to all tie out points and it all quickly packs in the tarp sleeve. The seam sealer was a breeze to apply, I did 2 coats just to be sure. Did I mention its very lightweight? Happy, dry camper!

Fantastic tarp!

Have used this a couple times already and its a fantastic tarp loads of room, absolutely get the poles for the pull outs as they make the inside cavernous. Add the fantastic service from Adam and its a double winner. So much so two of my friends have bought the same tarp from Hammock Gear. In fact you can see his review below!

Hey Philip,

Thanks for the awesome reviewand for spreading the word! Sounds like you've already got a little Journey crew started. Totally agree on the pull-out polesadding those really opens things up and turns the tarp into a palace.

Also, those setup pics look great. Appreciate you sharing them!
