Lightweight and durable with minimal stretch, our silicone impregnated ripstop polyester fabric 1.1 oz / yd² (20D) will keep you out of the elements.  This durable tarp system with doors is both water and windproof, and resists the retention of water much better than traditional nylon tarps and tents.  Reinforced with 210D Polyester, all tie outs are built with grosgrain, and come standard featuring 1/2" Beastee D-Rings on the 6 perimeter tie outs, 4 door tie outs, 4 panel pull outs, and 3/4" Beastee D-Rings on the ridgeline tie outs. We also offer the option to upgrade all of the tie outs with LineLoc3 tension hardware to create a knot free set up! If you choose to upgrade to LineLoc3 hardware, we highly suggest adding two of our Titanium Clips to the ridgeline to completely eliminating the need for knots. We provide a free seam sealing kit, standard with each order to waterproof the tarp. The four diamond panel pull outs require seam sealing. Many find that seam sealing the ridgeline of the tarp is not necessary, but it is recommended.

This tarp will ship approximately 4 weeks after an order is placed.

Guylines do not come standard with our tarps. However, we do offer discounted hanks of our reflective guyline in combination with any tarp purchase! Simply select your color and desired hank length for instant savings.

    Journey 12' tarp (copper)

Posted by brian on 2nd Aug 2019

I purchased this for my girlfriend. She has a chameleon hammock and it fits well. I have a Warbonnet Superfly which is a comparable hammock. The main reason for choosing this hammock was the center tie out coming standard. We hike into high alpine lakes mostly and the wind can be intense to say the least. she has shock cord on all tie out points and we went through a hail, electric, rain storm one of the mornings and this tarp worked wonderfully.

The biggest difference in the cut of this tarp vs the super fly is the bottom dimension. The Journey is more of a hex pattern than the superfly. That said they are both great tarps.

    Jim Woodard

First things that I noticed were the quality of the workmanship, the small size, and the light weight for a “Winter” tarp. Seam sealing was easy with the included sealant; just set up the tarp inside out and applied two coats. I’ve used the trap twice with my bridge hammock and really appreciate the coverage and space it provides, especially with the side pullouts. Hammock Gear folks are great to work with. Highly recommend their gear.

    Great tarp!

This is a really nice piece of equipment. High quality and well made. Due to it's compactness and light weight, it will become my year-round tarp choice.

    Pack Size and Weight

Posted by Kris on 24th Mar 2019

I got the Journey for winter camping because of the doors. I was shocked that the pack size was noticeably smaller than another tarp I own that doesn't even have doors. I love the material and all the tie outs for options. The weight is less than I expected as well. I've used it over a Hennessy XL and a Warbonnet Blackbird XLC and there is plenty of coverage. Very happy with it and would highly recommend.

    The Journey

I got the 12' Journey for my BB XLC hammock. I like the extra coverage it gives me and the built in doors can either be used or pulled up out of the way. Quality is great, no problems. I've used it a half dozen times and everything is as good as the day I got it.

    Journey Tarp

Posted by Alice’s Dad on 28th Feb 2019

I just noticed my daughter’s review. I read it and laughed because thats exactly what I did ... ran into the woods behind our house to set it up. I’ve spent about 10 nights in it since Christmas, including the pouring rain. The 12’ model gives plenty of room and the pullouts create significantly more space. Love my tarp...and my daughter. Thanks, Alice.

Made one happy Dad on Christmas morning

Posted by Alice on 22nd Jan 2019

This was a Christmas gift for my dad. It came right in time and he loves it. Immediately after opening gifts he ran outside to set it up and has been hoping for rainy nights ever since so he has an excuse to use it. This is definitely worth every penny to see the smile on my dad’s face.
