Lightweight and durable with minimal stretch, the silicone impregnated ripstop polyester fabric 1.1 oz / yd² (20D) of the Hammock Gear Journey Tarp will keep you out of the elements. This durable, ultralight backpacking tarp system with doors is both water and windproof, and resists the retention of water much better than traditional nylon tarps and tents. Reinforced with 210D Polyester, all tie outs are built with grosgrain, and come standard featuring 1/2" Beastee D-Rings on the 6 perimeter tie outs, 4 door tie outs, 4 panel pull outs, and 3/4" Beastee D-Rings on the ridgeline tie outs. We also offer the option to upgrade all of the tie outs with LineLoc3 tension hardware to create a knot free set up! If you choose to upgrade the Hammock Gear Journey Tarp to LineLoc3 hardware, we highly suggest adding two of our Titanium Clips to the ridgeline to completely eliminating the need for knots. We provide a free seam sealing kit, standard with each order to waterproof the ultralight backpacking tarp. The four diamond panel pull outs require seam sealing. Many find that seam sealing the ridgeline of the tarp is not necessary, but it is recommended.

Guylines do not come standard with our tarps. However, we do offer discounted hanks of our reflective guyline in combination with any tarp purchase! Simply select your color and desired hank length for over 30% your guyline.

    Great tarp!

Posted by Jere Moore on 9th Jun 2019

This is a really nice piece of equipment. High quality and well made. Due to it's compactness and light weight, it will become my year-round tarp choice.

    Pack Size and Weight

Posted by Kris on 24th Mar 2019

I got the Journey for winter camping because of the doors. I was shocked that the pack size was noticeably smaller than another tarp I own that doesn't even have doors. I love the material and all the tie outs for options. The weight is less than I expected as well. I've used it over a Hennessy XL and a Warbonnet Blackbird XLC and there is plenty of coverage. Very happy with it and would highly recommend.

    The Journey

Posted by Otto on 22nd Mar 2019

I got the 12' Journey for my BB XLC hammock. I like the extra coverage it gives me and the built in doors can either be used or pulled up out of the way. Quality is great, no problems. I've used it a half dozen times and everything is as good as the day I got it.

    Journey Tarp

Posted by Alice’s Dad on 28th Feb 2019

I just noticed my daughter’s review. I read it and laughed because thats exactly what I did ... ran into the woods behind our house to set it up. I’ve spent about 10 nights in it since Christmas, including the pouring rain. The 12’ model gives plenty of room and the pullouts create significantly more space. Love my tarp...and my daughter. Thanks, Alice.

Made one happy Dad on Christmas morning

Posted by Alice on 22nd Jan 2019

This was a Christmas gift for my dad. It came right in time and he loves it. Immediately after opening gifts he ran outside to set it up and has been hoping for rainy nights ever since so he has an excuse to use it. This is definitely worth every penny to see the smile on my dad’s face.

    Rarely give anything 5 stars

Posted by Unknown on 1st Aug 2018

I rarely give any product I purchase a 5 star review. This may be the first. It is very close to being a perfect tarp. I only say almost a perfect tarp, because it migh be able to improve upon it. So far no issues with it, huge coverage, roomy, all in a small package, and light. I love it amd will let you all know any further thoughta or ideas to improve it, if any.

    Fantastic

Posted by Brandon Lapointe on 20th Jun 2018

I love this tarp!!! I bought the 11ft Moroccan Blue and I couldn't be happier. The stitching is perfect. All the edges and tie outs are reinforced. I like having Beastee Dees at all the tie out points. No noticeable stretch. Cant go wrong with the doors. They add a little weight but when the weather turns they are priceless. Plenty of coverage for my 11ft hammock. The costumer service was outstanding! I ordered my tarp one day before my quilt was to ship. They added it on and shipped both together! Thank you Hammock Gear!

    This tarp is huge!!!

Posted by Jason Scott on 14th Jun 2018

I previously was using the eno profly xl for my Kammok roo double. The hammock is 11’ and that tarp I believe was 10’6”. Well I recently went on a overnight trip with a buddy I was converting to hammock camping and he wanted to test his new gear on a night that rained. And boy did it rain, all night almost from 11-4:45a.m and I got soaked. Luckily I carried an extra hammock with me this trip but I sat up from about 11:30 to 4:45 soaking wet under this tiny rain fly. I just got this new tarp and it was just over 3 weeks so guickly I might add, and I used it for the first time last Friday 9th of June. Although it did not rain the size and quality of this tarp is everything that I could have dreamt about. It did get windy and with my other tarp it would stretch in wind and sag quite a bit, but the journey didn’t move an inch. It was still just as taught as the second I strung it up. I only wish I would have gone with the zingIt line instead of the glowire. But all in all this is a remarkable purchase and I will recommend them to everyone I can offer my input too.
Thank you for the great edition to my arsenal.
