So far I love this underquilt, I've yet to test it in ~sub 20 weather but at 30 it was extremely warm. Customer service has been fantastic throughout. Thanks!

    Kept my backside comfy!

Posted by Matt from Massachusetts on 8th Nov 2020

Several weeks ago I ordered myself the Wanderlust setup from HG. I already had a top quilt (my preference for tent camping) and figured I would typically use the hammock for warmer, summer trips. I chose to skip the under quilt, and this was a mistake! After using my new hammock once with temps only dropping down into the 60’s, I could still feel the cold air robbing my underside of its body heat. During my second try with the hammock I tried laying down a heavy fleece blanket, but this only seemed to add a few degrees of insulation. I happily ordered the 40 degree Econ under quilt and used it last night for the first time. Here are my thoughts:
-Setup is so incredibly easy. Because both hammock and under quilt are by HG, they fit together perfectly and I barely even needed to adjust the cords.
-The shock cord used throughout the quilt are very high quality. Extremely stretchy but very sturdy. This made getting in and out of the hammock easy and comfortable because the under quilt just moved with the hammock.
-The loft is about 2-3” when fluffed up and layed flat on the ground. The temperature last night was around 37-40 degrees, so I was really pushing the temp rating on a 40 degree under quilt. I’m happy to report that I was very toasty through most of the night, and only started to feel a bit of a chill in the early hours of the morning. I was wearing lightweight pants and heavy socks. My feet stayed very warm, as did the rest of my body. My bum was the only place I felt the chill.
-For my next outing I may try to push the down around inside the baffles and try to locate more of it directly under my rear for better insulation, but I’m certain that any temps 45 and up this underquilt would have kept my perfectly warm for.
-Even being the “Econ” version of this product, the craftsmanship and materials are top notch. No, it’s not as light at the Premium model. So unless you’re looking for the absolute lightest underquilt you can find, I would highly recommend the Econ under quilt as the best product at an amazing price! Thanks HG!

    Economy incubator

Great underquilt. High quality, if taken care of will last a very long time. Temp rating seems to be accurate. I got a 30 deg. Quilt and I would say comfortable to 35. 2 complaints: not wide about at feet , trouble retaining heat with hammock tied out. 2nd complaint, not enough retention rings on UQ to line up well enough on my Hennessy hammock.

Hands down (pun intended) the best UQ for the buck. The manufacturing is top notch.

Great service. Product well made and hangs well. Tested it in the backyard the other night. Nice and warm. Pretty happy. Will get a proper test on top of a mountain in a couple of weeks. Thanks HG. You do a good job of it.

    So cozy warm! So stuffable!

Posted by Jeff T.P. on 11th Oct 2020

Perhaps this review is just because this is my first down under quilt? But wow is this under quilt amazing! It stuffs down to half the size of my synthetic under quilt, it's snugs up against the hammock way better than my synthetic under quilt, and it's almost too warm (I got the 40 degree version) to use in Texas! With lows hovering around 68 right now, I found myself kicking off my top quilt and snuggling into the amazing warmth of this under quilt.

The baffles at either end of the quilt really help seal it against the wind. The shock cords and s-biners make it a breeze to hook up the under quilt.

    Great Underquilt

Posted by Eddie on 8th Oct 2020

I ordered a custom economy underquilt from HG and I was informed of a 10 week lead time. I ended up receiving it closer to 8 weeks later which is awesome.
I unpackaged it and thought "this has decent loft, hopefully it will keep me warm". Then I left it hanging up in my closet for a few days and when I looked at it again, I was blown away by the amount of loft it had gained. It's extremely plush and I never would have guessed such a small package would fluff up that much.
I'm taking it out in a few weeks for a fall hammock trip and have no doubts it will be perfect.

Awesome product and equally as awesome service

Posted by Dominic on 7th Oct 2020

Purchased a Eco Burrow and Incubator set which I received a few weeks back (well inside the estimated timeframe). After testing them out last weekend, I’m happy to say the quality is excellent and super warm (can totally see myself camping later into the year now). What I was most impressed with was HGs customer support, they were quick to respond, proactive to deliver before a trip I had planned and even allowed me to make some changes to my order a number of weeks after placing. Keep up the good work HG!
