    Perfect!

Posted by Roberta Thornton on 1st Jan 2021

The recipient of this Christmas gift was tickled at my purchase. There were many exclamations about the high quality of the liner, the way it was packaged and the way the thing is "wired" for hanging (I'm not a camper, can you tell?). I was really amazed at its feather-weight. If I had to carry a pack on the Appalachian Trail, I'd have this!

Toasty, but not if you don't want it to be!

Posted by Adam on 16th Dec 2020

I have a 20 degree bag that kept me so warm, I didn't even notice getting snowed on in the middle of the night. But the suspension system lets really tune in and control how much heat it holds. It's really well though out and effective. It's a remarkable price point, not at just this price point, but period.

Hammock gear top quilt 20 deg.

Posted by Kenneth on 2nd Dec 2020

I bought the 20 degrees top quilt and have been so impressed with the warmth and comfort. I bought an under quilt out of desperation this year from Enlightened Equiptment of 40 deg for a ton of money and I could count the feathers on 2 hands. That's why I came back to purchase an under quilt from hammock gear! I can wait for quality! Thanks guys!

    Incubator 20*

Posted by Christopher McDaniel on 28th Nov 2020

Recently received my 20* Incubator Custom. The order was fulfilled earlier than expected, and the shipping was fast. The build quality is excellent on this quilt which I have come to expect from my HG products. I like that it has three points of adjustment and hugs my hammock just right without compromising the loft of the down insulation. I haven’t tested it to it’s limits yet but I know that it provides instant warmth at 45*. I will be purchasing a Burrow soon to complete my quilt set.

So far I love this underquilt, I've yet to test it in ~sub 20 weather but at 30 it was extremely warm. Customer service has been fantastic throughout. Thanks!

    Kept my backside comfy!

Posted by Matt from Massachusetts on 8th Nov 2020

Several weeks ago I ordered myself the Wanderlust setup from HG. I already had a top quilt (my preference for tent camping) and figured I would typically use the hammock for warmer, summer trips. I chose to skip the under quilt, and this was a mistake! After using my new hammock once with temps only dropping down into the 60’s, I could still feel the cold air robbing my underside of its body heat. During my second try with the hammock I tried laying down a heavy fleece blanket, but this only seemed to add a few degrees of insulation. I happily ordered the 40 degree Econ under quilt and used it last night for the first time. Here are my thoughts:
-Setup is so incredibly easy. Because both hammock and under quilt are by HG, they fit together perfectly and I barely even needed to adjust the cords.
-The shock cord used throughout the quilt are very high quality. Extremely stretchy but very sturdy. This made getting in and out of the hammock easy and comfortable because the under quilt just moved with the hammock.
-The loft is about 2-3” when fluffed up and layed flat on the ground. The temperature last night was around 37-40 degrees, so I was really pushing the temp rating on a 40 degree under quilt. I’m happy to report that I was very toasty through most of the night, and only started to feel a bit of a chill in the early hours of the morning. I was wearing lightweight pants and heavy socks. My feet stayed very warm, as did the rest of my body. My bum was the only place I felt the chill.
-For my next outing I may try to push the down around inside the baffles and try to locate more of it directly under my rear for better insulation, but I’m certain that any temps 45 and up this underquilt would have kept my perfectly warm for.
-Even being the “Econ” version of this product, the craftsmanship and materials are top notch. No, it’s not as light at the Premium model. So unless you’re looking for the absolute lightest underquilt you can find, I would highly recommend the Econ under quilt as the best product at an amazing price! Thanks HG!

    Economy incubator

Great underquilt. High quality, if taken care of will last a very long time. Temp rating seems to be accurate. I got a 30 deg. Quilt and I would say comfortable to 35. 2 complaints: not wide about at feet , trouble retaining heat with hammock tied out. 2nd complaint, not enough retention rings on UQ to line up well enough on my Hennessy hammock.

Hands down (pun intended) the best UQ for the buck. The manufacturing is top notch.
