The Journey Tarp is a lightweight, durable shelter built from silicone-impregnated ripstop polyester (1.1 oz/yd², 20D), engineered to handle wind and rain without the stretch of traditional nylon tarps. It features full-coverage doors for added weather protection and privacy, reinforced panels where stress runs highest, and multiple tie-outs for flexible rigging. Each one ships with a seam-sealing kit, so you can finish it for peak weather performance in the field.
Key Features of the Journey Tarp
Every detail of the Journey Tarp is built for the trail. Here is what sets it apart:
- Fabric: 1.1 oz/yd² (20D) silicone-impregnated ripstop polyester for minimal water absorption and added durability
- Full-coverage doors plus panel pull-outs let you seal out weather or open up for ventilation
- Reinforced tie-out panels and durable grosgrain webbing at every connection point for long-term performance
- Hardware includes ½″ D-rings at the perimeter tie-outs and ¾″ D-rings at the ridgeline for strength and setup versatility
- Ships standard with a seam-sealing kit so you can lock in full waterproof performance in field conditions
Built to Handle Wind and Rain
Silicone impregnation keeps water from soaking into the fabric, so the Journey Tarp stays taut even in a downpour. The full-coverage doors channel gusts around the shelter instead of through it. Meanwhile, the reinforced grosgrain tie-outs hold tension without tearing. For extra protection on wet ground, pair it with a Dyneema ground cloth, and when the skies clear, pack it down fast in a mesh storage sleeve.
Ideal Use for the Journey Tarp
The Journey Tarp is perfect for ultralight backpacking, hammock camping, or hybrid ground and hammock setups where weight matters but weather protection cannot be compromised. Reach for it when you need a shelter that packs light, sets up fast in mixed terrain, and shrugs off rain or wind without excess bulk or sag. The doors add coverage or privacy whenever conditions call for it. To anchor it firmly on any surface, stake it out with a set of aluminum Y stakes.
Camp Responsibly
A dependable tarp lets you camp comfortably in more places, which makes low-impact habits matter even more. Set up on durable surfaces, pack out everything you bring, and follow Leave No Trace principles on every trip. Stored dry and treated well, the Journey Tarp will shelter you season after season.
